Chinese mythology provides several accounts for the origins of the dragon. One possibility is that during cyclones composite creatures composed of snake bodies, deer antlers and eagle claws were envisioned, thunder being their roars as they chased lightening through the sky. The dragon has come to symbolize divinity, nobility and royalty in Chinese culture, ideals that are revered and pursued throughout Chinese society today.
