Forwell Upgrades AI Applications, Launching High-Tonnage AGV Unmanned Transport Vehicles

By Chen Ren-yi

Xiao Wen-long, Executive Director of the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI) and President of Forwell Science and Technology Group, stated that apart from the semiconductor and electronics industries which continue to scale new heights, the broader macroeconomic environment for most industries remains in a state of stagnation and contraction. Coupled with the recent rise in international oil prices, the development of an already sluggish economy has become even more challenging. This situation once again underscores that under the premise of maintaining high-quality management, effectively improving efficiency and reducing costs are essential actions for industries to meet market demands and break through market predicaments. Therefore, introducing AI intelligent design into products, management, production processes, and human resources is now the ultimate way to maintain market competitiveness and align with the trends of smart manufacturing.

From a market perspective, Xiao Wen-long pointed out that the Mainland Chinese market is an export market that many Taiwanese businessmen heavily rely on. However, the fierce price-cutting competition and "involution" (intense internal competition) in that market have yet to ease, and the market is facing a ruthless slaughter. Quality and branding are disregarded, and low prices have become the absolute rule. This adverse situation where bad money drives out good has ultimately caused sighing within the industry. Nevertheless, in order to sustain corporate survival and competitiveness, he suggested that the industry develop and introduce high-value-added products to offset operating losses resulting from vicious competition, while also utilizing this strategy to explore new markets, cater to market demands, and fully seize business opportunities.

Currently, Forwell has engaged in evaluation and organization operations related to turnkey equipment for intelligent quick mold change systems, and has formulated innovative R&D and upgrade improvement plans. These include mold clamping force inspection, enhancement of mold clamping force, and system visualization management. In the future, this will quickly provide operators with real-time control reference data to achieve the goal of full automation and intelligence for turnkey equipment. This is also one of the prerequisites for introducing AI and aligns with the trends of high-mix, low-volume production and customization.

To connect with the trend of AI applications, Forwell recently utilized its own core technologies in the professional field of turnkey equipment for intelligent quick mold change systems. In addition to successfully launching intelligent mold change carts dedicated to metal forming and rubber/plastic injection molding equipment, Forwell has further invested in the development of unmanned handling equipment such as AGV mold change carts, AGV logistics transport vehicles, and AGV forklifts. These R&D results have now been successfully demonstrated and put into mass production.

Forwell's "AGV Mold Change Cart" is a type of smart logistics equipment that can achieve automated mold transport and precise docking with equipment like stamping presses and rubber/plastic injection molding machines. It can fully replace traditional manual or forklift mold change operations, significantly boosting mold-changing efficiency and lowering labor costs. It features a positioning accuracy of up to ±10mm and incorporates multiple protective designs, including 360-degree laser obstacle avoidance, contact safety edges, audible and visual alarms, and emergency stop buttons.

Meanwhile, the "AGV Logistics Transport Vehicle" can be applied to heavy-load material transport tasks involving frequent curves and complex routes. It features no track restrictions, wireless remote control, smart anti-collision/error-proofing, smart automatic charging, and easy maintenance. This AGV adopts a servo positioning design to enable precise automatic positioning. Its cargo platform has an automatic lifting function, making loading and unloading safer and more convenient, thereby replacing traditional crane operations. Equipped with an obstacle avoidance design, it can be remotely controlled or navigate automatically by building an in-plant map. Currently, models with load capacities ranging from 5 to 35 tons have been completed, and development is progressively moving toward high-capacity models of 50 tons, 65 tons, 80 tons, and 100 tons. These AGV unmanned transport vehicles can also be standardized or customized for mass production based on actual needs, meeting the requirements for AI unmanned handling and one-stop production line processes.
