Embracing AGI and 6G Applications, Forwell President Hsiao Wen-Lung: Machine Tools Will Undergo a Major Transformation Toward Larger, Composite Designs

By Chen Jen-Yi
Hsiao Wen-Lung, Standing Director of the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry and President of FORWELL Technology Group, stated that upgrading smart automated production equipment with AI design has already become an established trend in global industrial development. Yet it has also left many industries at a loss, unsure how to plan and begin investing in AI upgrades. In fact, because industries and process requirements differ, achieving precise and appropriate AI design content does indeed pose numerous challenges. Artificial general intelligence (AGI), with its generative and learning capabilities and broad range of applications, can deliver significantly greater intelligent performance when applied to machine tools and other production machinery. In the future, if it is further combined with 6G Internet of Everything technology, whose standards are currently being developed worldwide, it will not only make the processes and requirements of production machinery more flexible and intelligent with more comprehensive control, but will also allow smart connections with each piece of process equipment to be adjusted flexibly according to functional needs. As AGI and 6G Internet of Everything come together, production machinery will keep pace with the times and truly meet the demands of the “smart manufacturing” trend.

Hsiao added that the value of applying AGI to machinery lies in completing adjustments, preparations and process arrangements in advance. It can eliminate many of the complicated steps in traditional processes and simplify the required actions so they flow seamlessly, systematizing the process and confirming each preparatory action beforehand, thereby saving a great deal of manpower. However, whether the command design is precise and highly complete becomes the key to the success of AGI solution action templates. It is also the crucial factor in whether a company can successfully transform and upgrade through artificial intelligence and achieve the goal of providing one-stop service.

He further pointed out that, to respond to the production models and high-efficiency demands of the AI/AGI era, machine tools and industrial machinery will move toward composite designs that integrate production processes and merge production steps, enabling fast “integrated” production instead of the traditional single-machine processing model. Machinery will gradually evolve into highly customized equipment that combines multiple processing methods, with machines becoming larger and tonnages increasing. This will be a major transformation that breaks through traditional production methods. Forwell is also actively developing innovative R&D plans to upgrade and transform in line with AI/AGI application trends, bringing market momentum and innovative value to the company’s new products.

FORWELL Group is a leading manufacturer of turnkey intelligent quick mold change systems across Taiwan and China. It was the first to develop an “Intelligent Mold Management System” covering three major subsystems: the “Mold Transport System” (automatic mold change cart system), the “Automatic Mold Storage System” and the “Mold Maintenance System.” The system helps metal forming and rubber/plastic injection molding manufacturers build a fast, efficient, safe, easy and systematic one-stop “smart automation” management system for their molds. Amid the international trend of Industry 4.0 smart manufacturing, it helps manufacturers achieve AI/AGI-driven intelligent production sooner.

To align with AI application trends, the company has recently leveraged its proprietary core technologies. In addition to successfully launching intelligent mold change carts designed for metal forming machines and injection molding machines, it has further invested in developing the tools and equipment essential for AI upgrades, including unmanned transport equipment such as AGV mold change carts, AGV logistics transport vehicles and AGV forklifts. These R&D efforts have already produced results and entered mass production.
